My Story

October 28th, is a day that I will remember forever.

It is the day that changed the trajectory of my
life in significant ways. On this day, I was found unresponsive in my home, and immediately rushed to
the hospital. It turns out, the excruciating headaches that I had been suffering from for months, were in
fact blood clots forming all over my brain. I had sought help prior to this emergency incident weeks earlier, but to no avail. My family were later told that the emergency room doctor that had initially seen me and downplayed my symptoms and pain, had in fact erred in given me a CAT Scan. Whereas, he should have given me an MRI instead, which would have detected the many blood clots forming weeks prior to me being found unresponsive. The catastrophic outcome was that the numerous clots caused me to suffer a serious, life-threatening stroke.

The severity of the situation was so dire, that the doctors refused to operate on me, stating that
there was nothing they could do, operating would only make matters worse. They summoned my family in, to inform them to prepare for my untimely demise, because it was imminent. And if by small chance I survived, I would be nothing more than a “vegetable”. Further prompting doctors to ask my family to really consider “the quality of life” they would want me to have. However, being a family of great faith and belief in God, they refused to pull the plug on me. Although on life support, my family heard the prognosis and acknowledged the statistics, but believed that God could do the impossible. They prayed and believed God for a miracle. To the doctor’s surprise, against all-odds, and in-spite of no excessive measures being done to save my life, one day, I simply “woke up”.

Throughout my life, I have been faced with many adversities and obstacles that I would have to
overcome. Leaning on God, the support of my family, and my inner strength, I was determined to excel
and accomplish my goals at any cost. I know that God has kept me alive to do great things. Such feats to fulfill my destiny, a purpose much bigger than I. This purpose centers around serving others and enhancing many lives. The aspiration for me is not to merely overcome, but to overcome and encourage others that they too can do the same. My goal in life is to support people and assist them in becoming the best versions of themselves. That would be reflected in my quest and desire to create this platform and form a community of faith, hope, and encouragement amongst like-minded believers, with the goal of trying to overcome and survive the issues of this current day and times.

I was in full pursuit of my aspirations before I unexpectedly became ill. My situation would have
inclined others to give up on their goals or allowed doubt to form and dismantle their dreams.

However, I know that in-spite of what I have gone through, I am still capable of becoming everything I envision and hope to be. I am a survivor, who is not negatively defined by this tragic incident, but is determined, persevering, and a strong-willed overcomer. It might be slightly challenging, considering what I have gone through, but I am committed to seeing this through, and not allowing anything to set me back nor deter me from my dreams. I have others that are counting on me to fulfill my destiny, so that they too can fulfill theirs. One may wonder, where would I be or how far could I have gone, if I never became ill?

However, I do not look back at what happened to me with resentful regret, but I look at it as a steppingstone to my destiny, a piece of my story that was difficult, but didn’t halt my journey, only
enhanced me with exponential growth, experience, and wisdom.
